Day 1 Schedule


Morning Session


9-11am Food Groups

A review of the basic food groups, their importance in our diet, and what each group brings to the table.  This will be an interactive session starting with a presentation.  


11-11.15am Break


11.15-12.15pm Creating a Balanced Healthy Meal

Practical session putting together the information on the food groups and making meals more balanced and healthy.  Learn how to balance out your meals from the information learn in the first 2 hours.


12.15-1pm Lunch


Afternoon Session


1-2pm Body types/Somatotypes look at ectomorphy, mesomophy and endomorphy and how they affect your recovery from injury, body size and personality.


2-3pm Anthropometry/Body Composition Measuring

Theory and practical – For this, students will learn about the various body composition measurements – Weight, BMI, Waist Circumference, Waist to Hip Ratio, %Body Fat, Sum of Skinfolds, and why they are important measurements.  There will be an hour practical to take some of these body composition measurements.


3-3.15pm Break


3.15-5.15pm Anthropometry/Body Composition Measuring

Theory and practical – Another hour of practical.  Students will look at how to interpret results.


5.15-6pm Gut Health and Nutrition

The role of micro-organism within the body.  A quick look at the gut health and how diet can change these micro-organisms and how they can change our diet.



Day 2 Schedule


Morning Session


9-10am Review Day 1 of Course


10-11am Cholesterol and its role in the body – the good, bad and ugly side to cholesterol and its role with Fat Consumption – theory on cholesterol formation, function and excretion.  


11-11.15pm Break


11.15-12.15pm Cholesterol, effects of Diet and Exercise a look at how diet and exercise can be effective in changing types of cholesterol in the body and doesn’t have the side effects of Statins.


12.15-1pm Lunch


Afternoon Session


1-2pm Eat, Sleep, Repair and Lose Weight – role of sleep in muscle growth and repair and how diet can have an effect on sleep and sleep can have an effect on diet.  


2-3pm Nutrition and its role in Inflammation and Collagen Formation

A look at the role nutrition plays in collagen formation and fascia structure.  This will focus on injury recovery and a closer look at the condition Dupuytren’s Contracture, and whether nutrition could play a role in prevention/treatment.

   

3-3.15pm Break


3.15-4.15pm Muscle growth and maintenance – is protein the answer? In depth look at nutritional role in muscle growth.  Practical session – requires some arithmetic skills.


4.15-5.15pm Sports Nutrition – a look at supplementation – friend or foe to recovery?


5.15-6pm Hydration – Theory and practical – quick talk about fluid requirements, and practical on calculating requirements, fluid losses and rehydration strategies

Gut Health and Nutrition – The role of micro-organism within the body.  A quick look at the gut health and how diet can change these micro-organisms and how they can change our diet.
